A brief history of Department of Physiology :

The department of Physiology is one of the premier department of the first medical college of North Eastern India since its inception. The department of Physiology, AMCH is now located in the ground floor of the Basic Science Building in its left wing. The department provides medical education to the undergraduate M.B.B.S. students, BDS students, B.Sc. nursing students and several paramedical courses. The department also conducts research in various fields of medical science. Recently, Physiology department started pulmonary function tests (PFT) for patients in regular basis. The department is equipped with hematology laboratory, human physiology laboratory, mammalian and amphibian laboratory, experimental physiology laboratory and a library.

Department of Physiology was started along with the establishment of the college in 1947.
