Assam Medical College, place where modern medical education of North East started. The speciality of ENT & Head & Neck Surgery Assam Medical College has advanced by leaps and bounds. Professor S.N Sarma was the founder Professor of department of ENT & Head & Neck Surgery , Assam Medical College.He was born on 19th January 1915 in Palashbari in Kamrup. As, ENT Surgeon he excelled in his field and state of the art operations like stapedectomy and laryngectomy. He published around 30 research paper in reputed journal. He joined Assam Medical College in 1948 as assistant professor and was instrumental in establishing the ENT as an independent department in 1950. Later, became principal of Assam Medical College in 1957.
